Century'
Illustrated talk by Dr Frank Gray,
Director of the Screen Archive South East
Saturday 9 June 2007
Come and enjoy a glimpse of landscapes of the past from the fabulous
archive film collections of Screen Archive South East (SASE) at the Third
Annual Surrey History Centre Film Show on Saturday 9th June 2006.
Witness the changing face of Surrey's towns, villages and countryside as
seen through the lens of the cine camera. Join us for this ever-popular
event and enjoy a morning of intriguing archive films from yesteryear
focused on the theme of Surrey's landscape and townscapes throughout the
Twentieth Century.
‘Landscape through the Lens' is the theme of this year’s film show which
will again be given by Dr Frank Gray, Director of the Screen Archive South
East. The talk will draw on films from across the SASE collection.
Frank Gray, Director of Screen Archive South East explains “Much of the
surviving film footage of life and landscape in Surrey was actually made in
the 1930s, a decade which saw the rapid development of film technology for
use by the amateur film maker. This year's theme of 'Landscape' allows us
to see the changing face of Surrey - from fields to shopping centres".
