We are looking to source a quantity of printed books in order to fill period
shelving lining a heavily-used meeting room in one of our older bank
branches, to create the look and feel of an Edwardian gentleman's library.
Our own stock of banking-related publications is not sufficient to fill the
space and therefore if you have material in the following categories that
you no longer need, were wondering what to do with, and are happy to pass on
to us, please let me know by 31 May. We will meet any transport costs
involved.
We are looking for volumes with reasonable quality older-style bindings,
preferably runs of nineteenth (or earlier!) or early/mid twentieth century
serial publications such as almanacs, biographical dictionaries (eg the
original or later multi-volume DNBs) or those relating to banking
(particularly banking journals or almanacs), economics, law or accountancy.
Contemporary runs of volumes relating to life/topography/history of London,
Edinburgh or Scotland in general would also be of interest. Bound sets of
Acts of Parliament might also be useful. Individual banking/legal/accounting
manuals would also fit the bill. Since the volumes will purely serve a
decorative purpose, the nature of the content and the interior condition is
not critical, but we would want to avoid modern brightly-coloured bindings.
Thank you for your help. If you need any more information please do not
hesitate to get in touch.
