Seems to change every year! - last year (05-06) it was 492 contact time,
this year (06-07) its 378hrs.
I expect that each university has its own local agreement via the UCU,
but on a national level it should be more consistent. Certainly applies
to the salaries, which vary substantially between staff with the same
responsibilities (PL's), but UCU are currently trying to negotiate to
resolve these differences.
Research hrs are negotiable.
I do not believe I am not breaking any contractual obligations by
revealing the information above, but the APHE may wish to look into the
disparities that exist between university salaries / contact hrs.

Dear All
At a recent Course Leaders meeting at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth,
the
question was raised as to national practice regarding teaching hours and
research time for Course Leaders. To help with our research all Course
Leaders have been asked to contact their subject associations to try and
gather information. If you are happy to pass on your yearly teaching
commitment it would be very useful data for us, perhaps something we can
share at a later date.
Regards
Conrad
PS
I do realise that this may be a sensitive issue for some, and therefore
understand if you do not want to share this information.
