Full Support for PhD Studies in Statistics -- October 2007
The Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences (www.maxwell.ac.uk)
is announcing a PhD scholarship from the EPSRC DTA which provides
full fees and an annual maintenance grant of £ 12,600 for 3,5 years
starting in October 2007.
The essence of the eligibility requirements is that students must
demonstrate a relevant connection with the UK, usually through being
ordinarily resident for a period of 3 years immediately prior to the
date of application for the award.
Applicants should have, or be confident of obtaining, an undergraduate
or Masters degree of a standard at least equivalent to a Second Upper
Class Honours Degree of a UK university, in any of the following areas:
theoretical and applied statistics and probability, actuarial and
financial mathematics. The successful candidate will study within the
Department of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics, Heriot-Watt University.
