MRC General Practice Research Framework
Statistician
Salary to £34,473 p.a. inc.
The Medical Research Council (MRC) General Practice Research Framework (GPRF) is a network of just over 900 General Practices throughout the UK that collaborate with the MRC in undertaking high quality research. Our studies are mainly funded by government and national charities.
A Statistician is required to provide a comprehensive statistical service related to the range of studies undertaken by the GPRF.
Specific responsibilities will include
· Working closely with the Senior Clinical Scientists and the Director to develop the statistical methods on grant proposals.
· Analysing data from established general practice clinical databases (such as GPRD) and on existing research that is being conducted in collaboration with the GPRF.
· Preparation of conference abstracts and papers for submission to peer reviewed journals, and the presentation of abstracts at national and international conferences
· Playing an integral role in the development of new research proposals, for example advice on study design, sample size calculations and analytical plans
· To develop and solve methodological problems, in collaboration with interested colleagues, which are of practical relevance to the work of the GPRF
· To participate in teaching and in the statistical review of papers
Salary includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement.

The salary is dependent on previous experience and may be negotiable for exceptional candidates.
