Dear All,
Apologies for cross posting. Marina Vannucci will be visiting Imperial
College for a few days and will be giving a seminar on Bayesian Methods
for Gene Selection. Formally the talk is an applied mathematics
colloquium.
More details are available at:

Kind regards,
Sofia

Bayesian Methods for Gene Selection
22/05/07 : 16:10
Group: Applied Mathematics: Seminars Seminar
Venue: Department of Mathematics, Imperial College London
The analysis of the high-dimensional data generated by DNA
microarrays poses challenge to standard statistical methods. In
this talk I will describe how Bayesian methodologies can be
successfully employed in the analysis of genomics data. In
particular, I will look at models for sample classification and
sample clustering that incorporate Bayesian techniques for the
selection of the important variables (genes). I will assess
performances on simulated data and then show applications to DNA
microarray studies. Models and algorithms are quite flexible and
allow us to incorporate additional information, such as data
substructure and/or knowledge on gene functions.
