>All our Trust's appointment cards have this sort of advertising on the
>back. I don't think we are alone in this.
--> Not alone.
Just from google, in a few minutes, I found a couple of trusts which have
been criticised for this in the recent past.
>Our advice leaflets remain advert free, but I don't know how long that will
>last as the money offered is becoming too good to turn done in these
>financially challenged times.
From : Jel Coward <[log in to unmask]>
>The _need_ for the money does not affect how good or bad that money is.
>Does it?
--> Oh, dear - I seem to have started something... How unusual for me...
From : Rowley Cottingham <[log in to unmask]>
>I still don't understand what you want
--> Now you sound like my wife...
>a pre 1999 leaflet to see the wording or what people are giving out now
>with NWNF advertising.
--> I want the bits of the leaflet that ARE NOT the advertising - I just
want the advice people are giving about the charges the NHS may levy on its
services after RTAs, regardless of who pays. I DO NOT NEED THE ADVERTISING
BITS...
From : McCormick Simon Dr, Consultant, A&E <[log in to unmask]>
>It is often easier for the rich to shop ethically than for the poor!
--> I think you'd be wanting to re-phrase that, as it sounds as if someone
is knowingly doing something unethical for money merely because it's not
"easy" for them to do otherwise...
>I would suggest that the majority of patients are exposed to NWNF solicitor
>adverts on a regular basis anyway.
--> And to alcohol & cigarette adverts...
>Certainly if they are injured and at home watching day time TV there are
>only adverts for that and debt consolidation shown!
--> The issue is probably not what they are being sold by TV channels, but
what they SHOULD be sold by the NHS! There are implications arising from WHO
advocates something, not merely just from WHAT is advocated...
>Do they really read the back of advice cards and think...
--> NWNF companies are simply there as money-making tools. They have
excellent access to advice about how to advertise and market research to
establish the success of such adverts. THEIR experts tell them still to try
very hard to advertise on NHS paperwork BECAUSE PEOPLE LISTEN TO THE NHS!!!
NHS paperwork is something most people read and follow WIHTOUT expecting to
have to think...
>I'm not sure they always read the front or insides anyway!
--> I believe there is evidence from abroad that you are CORRECT in this
assumption!
.
.
.
Now PLEASE - does anyone actually have this leaflet on RTAs in their ED?
