Lectureship in Applied Social Sciences, Sociology and Social Policy
Fixed term contract for two years

The Division is responsible for teaching programmes in Applied Social
Sciences, Sociology and Social Policy. The undergraduate programme in
Applied Social Sciences includes specialist pathways in Anthropology,
Criminology, and Criminology and Psychological Studies.
We welcome applications from candidates who can contribute to research and
teaching in any area of Applied Social Sciences, Sociology or Social Policy,
in particular Criminology and related areas of Psychology. You will have
undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in a relevant social science
discipline, and either possess, or be nearing completion of, a PhD. You
must be able to offer your own units as well as contributing to team-taught
units.
The Division of Sociology and Social Policy is located within the School of
Social Sciences. We were graded ‘5A’ in the 2001 Research Assessment
Exercise. Our principal research areas include: Social change and the
lifecourse; Poverty, inequality and social safety-nets; Social cohesion,
crime, civil society and community relationships; Work and organisations;
Historical social policy and demography; Methodological innovation.
