she couldnt say a thing
she couldnt tell
& those who wouldnt listen knew
she had nothing
to say to them
an old story
told too often
tells too much of what
has failed here
to hear
the heart
but below
the growls of honour
able animals with tools
then & now know
how to use them
& now she wouldnt be heard
anyway above
the shouts as
the stones begin to fall
