SPA-207 - Promoting Project Productivity with a modern support environment
Immo Huneke, Zuhlke Engineering UK Ltd. ( www.zuhlke.com )
18:30-20:00, Wednesday 2nd May 2007
(Complimentary sandwiches and refreshments from 6pm)
Venue: BCS Davidson Building, 5 Southampton Street, London WC2E 7HA

Admission Free. Please pre-register as soon as possible under
http://bcs-spa.org/cgi-bin/view/SPA/PromotingProjectProductivity . BCS
London insists on being furnished with a complete list of expected attendees
by close of business one week before the meeting (in this case, Wednesday
26th April). This is both for security reasons and so that they can order
the right amount of food.

Please download and print out a meeting flyer from the above URL to display
at your place of work. There you will also find a location map.

Synopsis

Project managers, design authorities, architects and developers and external
stakeholders all benefit from clear visibility of the status of every
artifact and assembly at all times. Particularly in an agile project
lifecycle, this aids prioritisation of activities and consensus
decision-making. Best-of-breed tools are a pre-requisite of top-quality
development work. Less time spent battling the environment to get it to do
what you need means more time to solve the business problem.

By combining the best of open source projects and emerging low-cost
proprietary tools, a highly productive project support environment was
recently assembled that boosts the productivity of both developers and
managers. Immo will try to demonstrate the synergies achievable using JUnit,
Maven 2, IntelliJ IDEA, TeamCity, Subversion, JIRA, Fisheye, Crucible and
Confluence.

Speaker Biography

Immo Huneke organises the London series of meetings of the BCS SPA
specialist group. He¹s been involved in the UK software development scene
for more years than he likes to admit, most of them at Logica. As a Zühlke
consultant, he has worked in an architecture or design role for a number of
telecoms operators and in a hands-on agile facilitator role for several
financial institutions.
