In the US major presses have been producing their
second and subsequent printings by POD for some
time. And if I put a POD book in your hand and an
offset book I'd be surprised if you could tell
the difference. Same paper, same cover stock,
same binding, same density. What you de3scribe is
a few years ago--the technology has improved
enormously and will continue to do so. My guess
is that in 10 years offset will be mostly a memory.
