Netskills will be running the following workshops at Cambridge University Computing Services in June:
1. Accessibility, Usability & Your Website, 12th June

Understanding the different ways that people interact the web is the key to being able to provide a better online experience for everyone - but there is still a tendency for developers to focus on solutions for users with visual impairment. This workshop will introduce a more holistic approach to making accessible, usable web content and key evaluation techniques that you can use on your own (and other people's) web sites.
2. PHP: Primed & Ready: 13th June

Get to grips with the fundamentals of PHP, perhaps the most popular server scripting language in use today. PHP allows web developers to create fast, dynamic web applications that can interact with HTML forms, databases, XML documents, mail servers and much more. This workshop will guide you through the main features of the PHP environment and enable you to start building your own dynamic web applications.
3. Database Design and SQL, 19th June

The most important aspect of database-driven web publishing is the database itself. Netskills can help you develop the skills to be able to produce an efficient, scalable and optimised SQL database for use with your web solutions. This practical workshop will demonstrate how to develop an initial database design and turn it into a cost-effective, working solution.
4. Databases on the Web, 20th June

Being able to integrate database technology with the provision of web content is now a common expectation for web site developers. Harnessing these techniques can improve the management, maintenance and scalability of your web sites. This practical workshop teaches you the skills needed to provide web access to existing databases - enabling you to start developing web sites using database-managed content with confidence.
5. Exploring XML, 21st June

This practical workshop, aimed at experienced HTML authors, introduces a wide range of new and exciting possibilities using XML. Topics include: What is XML? Creating XML documents, Using XSLT & XPath for data transformations, Server-side XSLT, XML applications including XHTML, SMIL & RSS.
