Dear all,
A chance has arisen for GridPP to fund at least two students to the CERN
openlab summer programme. This year, it has been agreed that
GridPP-funded students will work specifically on porting LHC experiment
applications to run on [log in to unmask]
If you have any students who are interested in this, please let me know
by Monday (16 April), with the CV of the student. They can be post-grad
or undergrad.
Thanks,
Sarah

Dear Colleague,
The CERN openlab student programme will be running for its fifth summer
this year. Last year saw students working on Grid interoperability, Grid
monitoring, distributed databases, compiler optimisation, volunteer
computing and much else.
To apply, candidates (advanced Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D students)
should submit a CV describing in particular their IT-related skills, a
cover letter stating their motivation for applying, and a letter of
support from an academic supervisor. For more information see
www.cern.ch/openlab.
The candidate should state his or her preferred two month period for
coming. Because academic holidays are different around the world, we
have a five month window June-October in which the students can choose
to come for two months.
Sincerely,
Francois Grey
