Candice, it was such a relief to get the correct reference, so thank
you. The other day, shortly after the taxi ride, I was walking to the
campus gate where I was to meet an official finance lady from the
university who was to accompany me to one bank's office where we were
to negotiate my pay dealings being more accessible with another bank
(the usual Chinese bureaucratic puzzle) when I thought of those lines
in my head. I smiled to myself and to her, but I was anxious that I'd
lose the lines, so I kept repeating them in my head and mouthing them
whenever I had a chance. The boring official dealings took hours, then
I had to run and conduct a class for two hours, all before I could
write them down. Well, I did write them down during the class, but
that's another matter :-)
