I meant to reply to the Virginia topic earlier.
I can only warily imagine what a killer like that has moving through
his mind. it's horrifying that something like this is even possible.
it speaks of the illbeing of a nation, not just an individual, when a
lunatic tragedy like this happens. but I can only feel morose &
sympathetic as well; horror is reserved for those near to the event.
"In Britain, you cannot just walk into a shop and buy a gun. Thank goodness."
it's the same in Finland. in fact, I don't think there are very many
1st-world, western countries at all where firearms are as lauded &
loved & available as the US. I'm of the opinion that the usa is just
too BIG: if it were split into separate countries instead of states, I
wonder what the situation would be. imagine if the native american
nations had been allowed to grow & prosper in peace, or in peace
alongside europeans. warrior culture or not, things would be
different.
