IT WORKS
Schwimm ueber das Meer.
That is dark.
Now you can switch on the light.
It works, disabled.

Freely written during my first viewing of Fridolin Schonwiese’s
21-minute documentary about 4 handicapped children with whom
he worked in a school in Vienna instead of serving in the military.
The focus was on the children’s work process itself--the subjects were
quite unselfconscious about being on film. An example of
“film as an instrument of perception” from the annual
seminar/showcase known as The Flaherty. Later, my own unexpected
documentary viewing through my car window of the filmmaker himself
hanging out on the street and then walking into an unrelated art opening
where I was able to talk to him prompted me synchronistically to revise
what I had initially written and make it public.
