Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder about the XXI Dynamics of Molecular Collisions Meeting to be held in Santa Fe 
New Mexico on July 8 through July 13 and deadlines associated with the meeting.  This years 
meeting is dedicated to the career of Dick Zare.  Many of you are already signed up and coming to 
the meeting and we want to thank you.  This is a reminder to those of you who have not yet made 
arrangements to attend the meeting but wish to attend.  We are attaching a preliminary program 
for you to look at and hoping you will all want to attend and present your work at one of the 
poster sessions.  Four abstracts will be selected from those submitted to the poster session for a 
short talk at the “Hot Topics” session on Thursday afternoon.  The submission deadline for having 
your abstract considered for this “Hot Topics” session is May 15th.  Registration after June 8th will 
be subject to a late registration fee of  $50.

The meeting will be held at the La Fonda hotel (the oldest hotel in downtown Santa Fe).  There is 
limited space at the hotel, so if you are planning on attending please make your hotel reservation 
soon (we are down to about 30 rooms left).  Remember you need to both 1) Register at the hotel 
for a room (Download form from the Web site) and 2) register for the meeting and sign up for a 
meal plan (Register and Pay at the Web Site).

This meeting has been the premier meeting for gas phase physical chemistry for over 40 years.  I 
am hoping that this meeting follows in that tradition and I and Anne McCoy have worked hard to 
make sure there is support for the students to attend. This years meeting will feature the 
inauguration of the Dudley R. Herschbach award to a theoretician and an experimentalist for 
excellence in Chemical Dynamics to be presented by Professor Dudley Herschbach at the Georgia 
O’Keeffe museum. 

As we have been able to raise money from the Air Force and the DOE for student support I am 
confident that we will be able to reimburse the students that attend their registration fees.  (They 
will be required to pay the fee upon registration at the web site and will receive a reimbursement 
at the meeting).   We have arranged a special hotel rate with the La Fonda Hotel in downtown 
Santa Fe and they are willing to let several students share a room.

This meeting will only be a success if the community attends, contributes and participates.  I have 
put this meeting in Santa Fe in order to have a setting that is attractive not only for the 
participants but also for the accompanying persons.  Santa Fe is located in the foothills of the 
Sangre de Christo mountains and boasts world class hiking, shopping, opera, and chefs.  If this
