Dear List,
I'm trying to trace details of a Dr Wagstaffe of Kensington, London. He is said to have opened and developed the Frementor granite quarry on the Devon bank of the River Tamar in about 1860 and I have just found that he also seems to have operated a short-lived brickworks at Impham, further down the river. These enterprises were connected by a light railway from Frementor to Impham Quay, which is said to have been in a derelict state in 1869 and had been scrapped by 1883. There is also a possibility that he was involved in an iron mine in South Devon in the same period.
Can anyone help with further information on Dr Wagstaffe?
Robert Waterhouse
