Dear academics and students in media, communications and cultural studies
As new members of the Board of the Voice of the Listener and Viewer, we
are keen to encourage the participation of academics and students in our
field in the activities of the VLV. VLV's motto is 'Working for quality
and diversity in British broadcasting', and that's just what it does - by
holding conferences, responding to consultations, and participating in
policy discussions - so as to represent and support the interests of
diverse audiences and publics.
At its Spring Conference in London on April 19th, keynote speakers include:
* Michael Grade, Chairman, ITV plc
* Jenny Abramsky, BBC Director of Audio and Music
* Ed Richards, Chief Executive, Ofcom
* Ford Ennals, Chief Executive, Digital UK
Not only are these great speakers but also, at a VLV conference, the point
is that they come to discuss and defend their work to the wider public.
Discussions are usually lively, inclusive and fun.
As a special one-off offer, VLV is offering registration to academics at
the members' rate of £40 for the day's event (normally, £75) and a £10
rate for students. You can register at www.vlv.org.uk (please quote
Meccsa) or contact Linda Forbes at [log in to unmask]
We hope to see you there.
