There are two elements to the service we offer at the Museum, which does
what you are proposing.
Firstly such screens access the Internet via a network appliance from
Cisco, which maintians lists of blacklist sites provided via the
Internet, and to which we add further barred sites as need arises.
We also manage the relevant screens using kiosk software. This also
limits what the visitor can do - in particular, they cannot enter URLs
directly into the browser, nor change the browser configuration. So
they mostly only go to sites we are highlighting to them. The kiosk
software can also block particular types of protocol, manage popups, and
secure other parts of the operating system from bisy fingers.
Happy to discuss further

Subject: Filters for Public Access Computers
A museum I advice is looking at the possibility of giving the public
access to heritage related websites via a computer located in one of the
galleries. They would of course like to stop the possibility of this
being used to access inappropriate sites by using a filter.
Does anyone know of or have experience in using these and could give any
recommendations?
Replies can be posted off list to myself if you wish
Many thanks
