Dear London Cosmologists,
On Friday Brad Johnson from Oxford University will be speaking at the
Imperial College cosmology seminar about Measuring the Polarization
of the CMB with CLOVER and EBEX
Date: Friday 27th April
Time: 12 noon
Room 503 Huxley Building
Title: Measuring the Polarization of the CMB with CLOVER and EBEX
Abstract:
I will discuss CLOVER and EBEX, which are two new experiments
designed to characterize the polarization of the CMB. By measuring
the CMB polarization, we can improve our knowledge of a collection of
cosmological parameters, probe the matter content of the universe
through the effect of weak lensing and possibly discover the energy
scale of inflation.
Because the CMB polarization signals are faint, measurements must be
made with dedicated state-of-the-art instrumentation with
unprecedented sensitivity. CLOVER and EBEX are two of these powerful
new observatories. Measurements are expected to begin in 2008.
See you there,
Joe Zuntz
