The UMSLG Open Forum is an annual event that brings together healthcare librarians and information professionals from the NHS, Higher Education and related sectors to discuss topics of mutual interest and to share experiences and examples of effective collaboration and best practice. This year's Open Forum, on the theme of e-learning in health and medicine, has been planned jointly by UMSLG (the University Medical School Librarians Group) and UHSL (the University Health Sciences Librarians Group).
At this year's Open Forum we will also be initiating the launch of the University Health and Medical Librarians Group (UHMLG), bringing together UMSLG and UHSL.
Programme
There is an increasing interest in the use of e-learning to support training and education in health and social care. e-learning is now commonplace for the delivery of medical and health sciences education in Higher Education. Library and information professionals play a key role in supporting and enhancing the e-learning experience for staff and students. This year's Open Forum brings together key speakers who will review developments in e-learning in both HE and the NHS.
The programme will start at 10.00 with registration, and end at 4.30 with a cheese and wine reception to signal the launch of UHMLG, and includes the following speakers:
