SELECTING AND SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTING LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS: THE ONE-CLICK ENVIRONMENT
22 May 2007, London
The advent of GoogleTM has changed the way people search for information. We as information professionals need to sit up and take note of what is happening in our organisations. The "GoogleTM Ready User" is alive and has expectations - that with one click information can be delivered to their desktop. This one-day course addresses the challenges of delivering this one-click - seamless, personalised information environment to our users. The course goes beyond the selection of traditional modular based systems and addresses interoperability between systems that have a common goal; the provision of information to support our user communities.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
The course addresses the traditional model of library system selection with a twist and will consider the following questions and more:
· What is the relevance of a core spec?
· How can I successfully project manage an implementation?
· How can I integrate my library management system with my Virtual Learning Environment?
· Is it possible to integrate my system with my organisation's portal?
· Should the library service be providing my institution's portal?
· Do I need federated searching software?
· What is an OpenURL resolver?
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone considering implementing a library management system.
