Who should attend?
The NoWAL middle management theme is aimed at staff working within library and information services at middle/intermediate management level and above.
The aim of this event is to help participants develop a practical approach to influencing and networking effectively.
By the end participants should be able to:
* Identify their main networks and priorities for strengthening them.
* Explore their own influencing styles and review the interpersonal skills they use in this
* Identify influencing opportunities and situations
* Use a structured approach to managing such situations and opportunities to influence ethically.
The content will include:
* Examining what we mean by influencing
* Mapping current networks
* Networking skills
* Diagnosing influencing situations
* Levels of listening and questioning
* A framework for influencing successfully
* Action points for each participant.
About the tutor
Sharon is a management and organisational development specialist with 15 years experience in public and voluntary sector leadership and management development including the HE, local government and the NHS sectors. She specialises in management development related to performance of individuals, teams and services. She is an accredited EFQM Assessor and a qualified MBTI practitioner.
Sharon currently works as an Education Development Coordinator for Management Development at the University of Salford. During her time at Salford she has established a 5 year Leadership and Management Development Strategy and developed programmes at first line, middle and senior management levels.
