The National Information Literacy Framework Scotland
The Scottish Information Literacy Project is delighted to announce the
first draft of The National Information Literacy Framework Scotland
which all sectors of education can recognise and develop or which can be
applied to the world of work by equipping learners with skills needed
for the 21st century.
An open meeting will be held on Wednesday 23rd May from 2pm to 4.30pm in
A 313, Govan Mbeki Building, Glasgow Caledonian University, to explain
the Framework.
The draft framework is being developed with primary, secondary and
tertiary partners using SCQF (Scottish Credit Qualification Framework)
aims, structure and key features and existing frameworks and models. The
Framework lists information literacy skill levels for all levels from
school through to PhD and is seen as a key tool for the embedding of
information literacy in schools, FE, HE, and lifelong learning and for
life. Information literacy is a key independent learning skill and the
Framework can be used by librarians, teachers, academics, workplace and
adult literacy trainers and lifelong learning activists to support the
move to learner based study.
A copy of the draft framework is now available as a pdf download from
the project website http://www.caledonian.ac.uk/ils/framework.html see
the bottom of the web page.
