on our SL4.4 WNs we have:
GFAL-client-1.7.8-5.i386
lcg_util-1.3.7-5.i386
Maybe you can try to manualy download and install/upgrade this packages?
Did you applied all remove/install steps as described on
http://wiki.egee-see.org/index.php/SL4_WN
