I agree it is difficult, and we have to tread with care. It seems that:
1. We would not refuse to divulge clinical information essential to
the care of our patient while abroad.
2. We would not refuse to supply a medical report or extract from the
patient's medical record within a reasonable time frame, say two
weeks.
3. What we object to is being required to provide that report
immediately, and that is what we should refuse to do. As we are not a
party to the contract we cannot complain about it to the insurance
ombudsman. He will only listen to complaints from the dissatisfied
customers of insurance companies. Unfortunately that means that
patients must be dissatisfied before any progress will be made.
