Nikon and Canon prosumer cameras all very good. I'm happy with the
Canon 350D, which is now available at discounted price since the 400D
was launched. If you already have a selection of Nikon or Canon lenses
then the choice is made for you.
The lens that came with the 350D was rubbish: I now use a Sigma
24-70mm F2.8 DG Macro lens, which I'm happy with.

They do, but most software can cope with them. I use Bibble Lite
(available from www.bibblelabs.com) to process my RAW files, and I'm
very happy with it. Costs $70, or about £35 at current exchange rates.
