Last Saturday Channel 4 showed "The Face of Britain", mixing dubious genetics with inadequate place-name studies. I watched it but did not hear it. The subtitles had someone referring to St. Michael's Mount as having had an old name "Victors". I presume she actually said "Victis". But did St. Michael's Mount ever really have such a name? (cf. Rivet&Smith s.n. Vectis).
