Dear student looking for a PhD fellowship,
We are an emerging group interested in unveiling the structural basis
of the activity of organelle proteins and in understanding the
origin of related pathologies, by applying Biochemistry and Structural
Biology techniques. We seek for a highly motivated Ph.D. student
willing to learn intensively, live in Barcelona (Spain) for some years
and contribute with an enthusiastic, collaborative and creative attitude
to research. The technical skills the student will acquire will encompass
cloning, heterologous overexpression, purification, crystallization and
structure determination by X-ray diffraction methods. In order to better
characterise the protein and its complexes, electron microscopy and
further biophysical and biochemical methods will be considered. We have
a one-year Ph.D.fellowship available immediately though an *excellent
academic score* (equal or above 2.7 in the Spanish system score, see
attached document for score conversion to the Spanish system for PhD grant
applications) is required for subsequent application for external
funding. The candidate should have a B.Sc. degree in Biology,
Biochemistry, Pharmacy or Chemistry and have EU-citizenship.
The group is located at the Barcelona Science Park, which hosts research
groups from both the public and private sectors and offers a wide range
of state of-the-art equipment and technological facilities.
Interested candidates can email his/her CV directly to M. Solà
indicating the names and e-mail addresses of two referees.
