I wasn't there for much longer than Mairead, really, and I can vouch for
some of the difficulties mentioned in her talk-poem about negotiating Devon
and Cornwall without your own set of wheels. If you're flying to Newquay
airport, plan to hire a car. Or stay in Newquay. I managed to miss Richard
Kerridge -- by whom everyone seemed really impressed -- because I was
standing in a phone booth in Plymouth bus station negotiating with a man
called Clive over a taxi ride back to Newquay. I can also second Carrie's
enthusiasm about Saga / Circus. Barret Watten's reading presupposed a
knowledge of WCW's Paterson which I don't really have, so I'll leave that to
someone else. Will Rowe on "Jury Vet" was engaging. Not sure I entirely
bought Andrea Brady on the public quality of the early Tom Raworth, but
it'll send me back to the work as well as Clean and Well Lit. Dartington
College of Arts is beautifully located -- I really envy the students! I can
send you a copy of my paper, Mairead, if you'd like one.
