CALL FOR PAPERS: Fourth Biennial ACIS Conference

The Fourth Biennial Conference of the Australasian Centre for Italian
Studies will be hosted by Griffith University at its South Bank campus in
central Brisbane from 10 to 13 July 2007.
Like previous ACIS Conferences, this will be an interdisciplinary event,
with keynote addresses on a range of Italian Studies topics:
Professor Gene Brucker (University of California, Berkeley): "From birth
to death: The life cycle in Renaissance Florence"
Professor Milly Buonanno (University of Rome, "La Sapienza"): "Television
drama as central story-telling system in contemporary Italy"
Professor Paul Corner (University of Siena): "Fascism and consensus: Time
to move on?"
Professor Anna De Fina (Georgetown University): "Ethnicity, identity and
social practices: Italians in the U.S."
Professor Antonio Di Grado (University of Catania): "Storia di un'utopia,
da Verga a Camilleri"
Professor Pierangela Diadori (University for Foreigners, Siena)
Paper and Panel Session Proposals - New deadline of Friday 4 May
Proposals are invited for panel sessions and/or individual papers, within
the areas of Italian History, Literature, Cinema, Language Teaching and
Acquisition, Linguistics and Sociolinguistics, Sociology and Anthropology
including Italian Migration Studies, Italians in Australia, Art History,
Politics, Economics and Business.
To submit a proposal, please download the form from the web-site (

Kennedy ([log in to unmask]) by Friday 4 May, 2007. Papers should
be aimed at presentations of 20 minutes' duration.
