Oh absolutely it is not nice, nor poetry, nor things polite people
express, oh well. Needs to be said anyhow.
THE PRISON NOTEBOOKS
1. Chemical Imbalance
Chemical imbalance becomes permanent
after 12 hours
locking steel teeth around wrists
are alchemical
blood transforms to base metal
burns hot
sits still
collects around the heart
bullets
waits its moment
vengeance not Thine
but mine
alone
2. Air Conditioning
A holding cell in winter is cooled
by air conditioning
in summertime probably they will
pump in heat
if all cops died tonight
we would revert to the State of Nature
and mankind would be happier
forget Abraham's bargaining with God
for Sodom and Gomorrah and cut the crap:
find me one worth saving.
3. It's not what you know
Some of the prisoners high-five each other
old acquaintances reunited
Others sit alone
by ourselves
not raped as fear predicts
just left alone
There is the gap
unbridgeable
it is more than racial
but this is America
and it is racial
3. Forgiveness
I want to see a priest
I always want to see a priest at bad moments
because I am a religious caterpillar
yes me holy furry fuzzball
pet me and I will weave
silk around your throat
and choke you
no priest is offered and no time to ask
so it's just me and the Big Guy
whoever that is
Studarino or the Grand Guignol
monster out of Jacques Tourneur's
Curse of the Demon
I am on my own here
Father what can I do
to forgive
his voice: SANGUE SANGUE SANGUE!
Forgive your enemies
my voice: SANGUE SANGUE SANGUE!
Kill them all
dip them in hot lead, pour my blood
into their open wounds
the judge
my ex
forgiveness
death
preconditions
4. 2:15 AM
Emerge into darkness
a vista of concertina wire
a waiting car
I am dead
something has died
the dead cannot forgive
the undead who think
they still are living
