I'm not familiar with this test but given it already works in blocks why
not using a controlled block design? alternating for blocks ISI 4s, 2s,
1s, (these 3 ones are randomly presented right?) and rest; then do it
again, so that you get a better estimate of the rest.
I personally do not like beginning and end of a session for the rest as
1- I think subjects aren't in the same rest state and 2- rest in between
relaxes your hr for a little while which is always good ..
