Starlink Software Collection - "Hokulei (Arcturus)" Release
-----------------------------------------------------------
JAC announces a new release of the Starlink Software Collection.
Highlights of the "Hokulei (Arcturus)" release include:
* A new software package named SMURF (Sub-Millimetre User Reduction Facility)
which can be used to process raw ACSIS time-series data into data
cubes. SMURF will also be used to process SCUBA-2 data.
* All HDS files are now created in 64-bit format by default.
* Improved cube handling in GAIA, including:
- creation of animated GIF from stepping through slices of a cube.
- rebinning and filtering of cubes.
* Improved intercommunications between GAIA, SPLAT, Topcat, and other
VO-enabled desktop tools through PLASTIC messaging.
* The clump finding tool, CUPID, has been modified to have more detailed
output catalogues. In addition, if you are interested in using CUPID you
can subscribe to a new mailing list, [log in to unmask], to
discuss feature requests and usage techniques.
* A native Intel Mac OS X release is now available.

Support
-------
The Starlink Project was terminated in June 2005. The Starlink Software
Collection is being maintained by the JAC, with support from PPARC, for the
benefit of our users. Bugs or feature requests reproducible with UKIRT or
JCMT data sets should be e-mailed to [log in to unmask] where they will
be attended to in priority order.
Non-JAC users are encouraged to report bugs to [log in to unmask] where
they may be attended to on a best-efforts basis by volunteers.
Open source developers wishing to send in patches or wanting access to the
CVS repository should email [log in to unmask]
