Dear Markus,
the automatically defined contrasts try to be clever in figuring out what
effects you may want to test, but this does not apply to all designs. You
should study the contrast weights to see whether they test anything
useful given the interpretation of your design.
The manual and the contrast manager help has some explanations on how to
create and read T- and F-contrasts.
