HOUSING AND SUSTAINABILITY, University of York 11-13 APRIL
http://www.york.ac.uk/inst/chp/hsa/spring07/index.htm
Over the past decade, the research and policy profile of housing
sustainability has grown significantly. Yet even the most cursory research
shows that meanings of sustainability are myriad and contested and truly
integrative perspectives rare. The conference aims to provide a forum for
research that deepens understanding of individual dimensions of housing
and sustainability – economic, social and environmental – and for research
that looks at how conflicting sustainability agendas could be reconciled.
The conference will include high profile plenary speakers and interactive
workshops. Speakers confirmed to date include Professor Mark Shucksmith
(University of Newcastle upon Tyne), Professor Colin Jones (Heriot-Watt
University) and Dr Oliver Hartwich (the Policy Exchange). There will also
be presentations outlining the results of new research on sustainability
issues that has been supported by the National House-Building Council
Foundation. The conference is co-sponsored by the National House-building
Council Foundation.
The organisers are: Steve Wilcox of Centre for Housing Policy, University
of York ([log in to unmask]) and Madhu Satsangi
