Dear All
I have a query regarding a photo-essay which I am currently authoring, and would be very grateful
for your advice:
I have about 600 photographs, which I would initially like to code as whole images into categories
such as 'science discovery'; 'family relations', and then sub-code into categories such as
'pedagogy' and 'parent-child'. Each photograph might inhabit several nodes/be cross-linked to other
nodes/have several different codes attached to it (I'm trying to describe this in several different
ways, as packages do!). I think I would like a hierarchical structure, but with good cross-links.
I am reasonably certain of the themes/codes I would like to use, from viewing the images as 'raw'
data.
Then, I would like to import groups of images into Photoshop for editing, and they must be
extremely high quality prior to this (i.e. not resaved or compressed repeatedly). I've already had
several suggestions about the software/CAQDAS programme to use and really don't know which to
choose, having used only Max QDA in the past for text. No one yet has mentioned whether coding
photos in any package would then make it difficult to edit them in Photoshop, and I'd really
appreciate advice on this.
At a later date, the initial (relatively simple) coding process might become more complex, and
involve multimedia (audio, video, text). Ideally, following coding, authoring/editing in various
media would then be a relatively simple process...
Would you please suggest a way through this?
Many thanks
Rachel
