I've been reading all the discussion on this, & tend to agree that we,
that is artists, require the freedom to borrow, etc, (what else do we
mean by either 'allusions' or 'intertext'?). But then within a gift
economy, as Dominic suggests, & perhaps at least acknowledging that
such borrowing is what we're doing. I don't mind that, but want the
freedom, as well, to someties do these things 'unconsciously'. All
that stuff in our head...
