Hi Crumb list
somehow we missed it being the first of the month yesterday, apologies.
For March we don't have a formal theme lined up... but are gearing up
to two significant events in the UK media arts calendar which we hope
to post reports on and solicit others to do so too:
1) the opening of the new BFI venue on the Southbank in London:
http://www.bfi.org.uk/about/news/2007-01-12-southbank.html and http://
www.bfi.org.uk/whatson/southbank/
2) the Digital Aesthetic 2 conference and exhibition in Preston,
Lancashire: http://www.digitalaesthetic.org.uk/
In regards to the former we highly recommend reading the interview
with (former) BFI curator Michael Connor, online at:
http://resourceguide.eai.org/exhibition/computer/interview_connor.html
In regards to the latter we recommend Sean Cubbit's presentation at
the last Digital Aesthetic event, online here: http://www.uclan.ac.uk/
host/edau/da-2007/prestondigitation.htm
In the meantime, perhaps someone from http can tell us how the
opening of Do It With Others (Open Curation) went last night? I am
curious about this model of exhibition making - where subscribers
have a say (a bit like fans being asked to program the next All
Tomorrow's Parties festival?) - does collaborative filtering create
interesting results?
Otherwise, do keep telling us what you are reading (and writing!) and
reporting on what you've seen and done. And we'll post bits of our
book manuscript here soon too!
Cheers,
Sarah
