Hello,
I did ask the list about Experience with projection film on glass and
got some feedback I am sharing now.
Advice I got from the list:
- Some time ago I used a Grey textured PVC film to back project on to
the screen which was had some light from street lamps on its face: that
worked quite well. Since then I have seen a white textured Perspex
screen which was brighter (but not in a street)
- I have done a number of projection experiments with glass. In the end
we opted for a laser engraved surface to host the imaging surface of the
projection. Of course, depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
- I'd recommend asking AdiAV for advice on this - they are really
experienced in all aspects of projection installation - including back
projecting onto glass Mark Wayman ADi Audiovisual: +44 (0)20 7729 8085

- I have dealt with a similar set-up.. I don't know about the film or if
it matters in any case... but I would say it is absolutely imperative
that you pay extra if you need to to get someone who has dealt with the
material before. Also, if you haven't... do a dry run before - I found
that some modern glass refracts nicely without a film, but I am not
technically sound in this area.
Of course it would all depend on the front of the building and the kind
of light it receives in any case, no amount of technology is going to
make it that visible during bright light, but this film we used was
great (and relatively cheap). Apart from anything else, the film became
part of the nature of the work. Every screen has a texture, after all.
Companies I have researched about projection on glass:
- Newland Media, Newcastle http://www.newlandmedia.co.uk/, Paul
Blakey (we will work with them for our projection solution now)
- Media Zest, London, http://www.mediazest.com/
- Media SignSystems, London, http://www.mediasignsystems.com/
- Quadrant Solutions, Derby,
