The Sound and Music Computing Conference (SMC) aims at promoting European
and international exchanges around topics related to sound and music
computing. SMC is jointly supervised by:

         * AFIM (Association Francaise d'Informatique Musicale)
         * AIMI (Associazione Italiana di Informatica Musicale)
         * DEGEM (Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Elektroakustische Musik)
         * HACI (Hellenic Association of Music Informatics)

The 4th SMC Conference (SMC'07) is organised by the National and
Kapodistrian University of Athens (Laboratory of Music Technology &
Acoustics, Department of Music Studies and Signal Processing Laboratory,
Department of Informatics and Telecommunications), in collaboration with
the Ionian University. The conference will take place on the fascinating
island of Lefkada [http://www.lefkada.gr/?langid=2], under the auspices of
the Cultural Center of Lefkada, the Lefkada Prefecture and Municipality and
the Greek Ministry of Education.

We invite the submission of research papers, reports, posters, and demos
on topics in all the fields of sound/music computing, but with a special
interest in research dealing with:

         ~  Tools for research in music archeology
         ~  Analysis-synthesis of the singing voice
         ~  Computational Music Analysis
         ~  Aesthetics of new technologies in music research and creation

Conference thematic areas and topics:

        *  Computational Musicology and Analysis
        *  Algorithmic Composition
        *  Sound Processing
        *  Physical Modelling of Musical Instruments
        *  AI and Cognitive Modelling
        *  Music Information Retrieval
        *  Analysis and Synthesis of the singing voice
        *  Interactive Music and Real-time systems
        *  New tools for Music Archeology
        *  Sound installations and Creative Technology
        *  Interfaces, Virtual Instruments and Creative Mapping
        *  Sound and Image: Transformations and new multimedia systems
        *  Aesthetics: New technologies in Musicology and composition
        *  New tools for analysis, archiving and data mining in
Ethnomusicology

The SMC'07 organisers invite the submission of papers related, but in no
way limited, to the conference topics. Besides usual presentations of a
paper with a talk, presentations with posters and/ or with interactive
demonstrations are encouraged. Posters and interactive demonstrations will
by no means be considered as a second choice form of communication.
Preliminary and final versions of the documents must be sent
electronically. Printed papers sent via postal mail will not be accepted.

Types of Submissions

*  Full papers: 8 pages maximum in the proceedings, oral presentation
or demonstration

* Posters: 4 pages maximum in the proceedings, poster presentation or
demonstration

* Studio reports: 4 pages maximum in the proceedings, oral
presentation


The official language of the conference, in which all proposals should be
submitted, is English.

Proposals for Music

Propositions for music are invited by the official associations of
electroacoustic music, which collaborate with SMC07. Please contact
Ioannis Zannos [ [log in to unmask] ] for further information. There will be
three concerts and two sound-video installation sessions.
