Subject: MRes Public Health/Primary Care MRC Studentships (2007/08)
To: [log in to unmask]
The Division of Primary Care are delighted to be able to offer two MRC
studentships for successful applicants to the Masters of Research (MRes) in
Public Health/Primary Care from September 2007. The awards, MRC Advanced Course
Masters studentships, are targeted at areas of public health and health related
research that are not currently served by existing courses, and where such
training is likely to strengthen the academic base of the field or discipline
concerned. They are in recognition of the unique skills training and research
focus of the MRes, which is the first Masters to offer entirely web-based
training in Public Health. The studentships will cover the UK/EU rate of
tuition fee as well as provide a maintenance stipend of £12, 600 per annum
(£12, 600 on a pro-rata basis for part-time students). The MRes programme aims
to provide students with the skills needed to develop a critical evidence-based
approach to the promotion of public health and primary care.
The studentships would be suitable for those wishing to develop research skills
before undertaking a PhD in Primary Care or Public Health, as well as meeting
the requirements of continuing professional development, top up training for
voluntary registration, or public health trainees and the MFPH examination.
Students wishing to undertake the MRes are required to prepare and submit an
extensive research dissertation, supervised by staff within the Division of
Primary Care.
This is an ideal opportunity to attract prestigious funding for a pioneering
Masters in the field of Public Health and Primary Care.
