Hi everyone
With the move to a more accessible site for the library non-medical staff
are requesting access to the library out of hours. Currently it is only
the doctors and medical students who are given the key code for the library
door.
The library is only staffed for 22.5 hours a week so I can understand their
frustration at being excluded the rest of the time. How do other
libraries get over this problem? I wonder if you could answer the
following questions for me please?
1. Do you allow out of hours access to non-medical staff? If so which
categories.
2. How do you manage requests for out of hours access?
eg. Request from line manager
Register of authorised out of hours users
Sign-in sheet

A few other facts to put in the mix. The library still does not have a
security system. The Trust pays my salary but doesn't give the library a
budget. The library budget comes from the Deanery.
Please reply off list. I am happy to summarise for the list.
With thanks
