Dear all,
Has anyone faced the issue of sharing buildings with other
libraries? We are looking at moving one of our campus libraries into a
new building which will be shared with an NHS library. The bookstock
will remain the property of each institution, and previously the
circulation practices of each side have been very different. In both
cases each library is part of a broader multi-site operation and users
currently make extensive use of inter-site loans. How have other
institutions dealt with running this kind of joint library? Have you
physically converged your stock or kept it separate? How have you solved
the problem of different loan periods, fines practices, etc? Have you
converged onto one LMS or kept them separate?
Any advice or experience would be valuable. If you would be prepared
to speak to us by phone or visit that would be especially useful.
Thanks in advance,
Ian
