SciFinder Scholar updates from CAS
----------------------------------
CAS is pleased to announce the following updates to the SciFinder Scholar agreement.
Expanded access for PhD category sites with SciFinder Scholar Special Packages
With effect from 5th March 2007, the number of concurrent users for each of the PhD Special Packages has been increased at no additional cost. If a site currently subscribes to one of the PhD Special Packages, no action is needed to gain expanded access. CAS has automatically increased the number of users for these Special Packages.
Options for BSc granting institutions
CAS has introduced special pricing options for sites offering BSc as the highest level in chemistry, enabling such sites to access SciFinder Scholar at substantially reduced rates.
If you would like to purchase or upgrade to a Special Package or explore other pricing options, please contact Dr Barry Dunne, Regional Marketing Manager for CAS products and services in the UK and Ireland, at [log in to unmask], tel 01642 785 925, fax 01642 785 941.
Sites may begin access at a pro-rated fee partway through a year of the agreement and may also upgrade to a higher level of concurrent users at any point for the additional pro-rated price.

New Pauly Online moves to Brill's online reference platform
-----------------------------------------------------------
New Pauly recently announced the migration of New Pauly Online to the online reference platform, Brill Online.
Major benefits of the new platform include:
- Fully Unicode compliant, to facilitate the display of foreign
languages
- Ability to cross search multiple titles, enabling researchers to cross
search titles such as the New Pauly Online and the Jacoby Online at
the same time
- Advanced search system allows users to retrieve all the relevant
results
- Usage statistics
- ATHENS authentication
The Brill Online platform will continue to give access to both the German language entries from 'der neue Pauly', as well as 'Brill's New Pauly'. New content will be added to the online edition as new volumes are published in print, at a rate of approximately 3 volumes per year.
In terms of access to the new platform, please be assured that your user authentication details originally used to set up access under www.paulyonline.brill.nl have been loaded under the new platform and will be recognised when you log in to www.brillonline.nl.
To access your subscription to the New Pauly Online, please redirect your browser to www.brillonline.nl.

Call for feedback on Chest agreement for Classroom Training

Eduserv Chest is about to begin discussions with PTR Associates Limited on the potential renewal of the agreement for Classroom Training, which expires on 31st July 2007.
In order to ensure we negotiate the best terms and conditions, we would appreciate your feedback to the following questions:
- Have you purchased a Chest agreement for Classroom Training?
- If so, what do you value about the Chest agreement?
- Are you interested in a future Chest agreement for these products?
- If you don't currently purchase, would you consider purchasing in the
future and on which terms?
The Chest agreement for Classroom Training provides technical training, particularly in the areas of Data Communications & Networking, Internet/Intranet, Programming Languages, Windows 2000/NT, Unix/Linux and Databases.
In addition to the public scheduled courses, PTR also offers institutional specific courses that can be customised to include specific topics or satisfy particular requirements. Tailored/specific courses can be run at PTR's training centre or on-site at the institution if suitable facilities exist.
The current agreement enables sites to purchase training at a 25% discount. This discount is available for both staff and students.
Full details of the classroom based course titles are available at http://www.eduserv.org.uk/chest/courseware/classroom-training/overview.html
