The Royal Society's spring events programme

March with a talk by author John Gribbin on Robert FitzRoy, Darwin's
captain on HMS Beagle. Other topics in the series include the early days
of ballooning, polar exploration, scientific instrument maker Jesse
Ramsden, the Royal Society's links with India in the 18th and 19th
centuries, and some of the more curious scientific ideas devised by the
Society's early Fellows.
The events will take place in the Library reading rooms on Fridays in
March and April at 1pm. Places are free, and can be reserved by
