Here at Exeter University we are currently reviewing the efficiency and
cost-effectiveness of our inter-site loan scheme between our campuses in
Exeter and Falmouth.
At present the university van service travels between the two campuses
(approximately a 200 mile round trip) three days a week, carrying general
university deliveries on request in addition to the regular book loans
between libraries. We are not sure whether this is the most cost-eefective
way of operating for those occasions when there are few books and no other
deliveries.
I'm therefore interested in finding out what solutions others have found
to organising regular deliveries of books or other goods between sites at
some distance apart. For example, have you found a local courier service
to be better value, or do you just use the ordinary post for one-off
books?
Looking forward to your responses.
