Hi all,
Sorry if this is a no-brainer but what is happening with the
Blackwell content on Ingenta Connect? I had understood that full-text
access would disappear from Ingenta so we should just link to Synergy
but we still seem to have access to full text on the Ingenta site
(articles coming from docstore.ingenta.com, which I assume means the
full-text is still hosted at Ingenta).
Some of our subscriptions are showing entitlement to 2007 content on
Ingenta, while some of them aren't. The newsletter which announced
the move said:
"IngentaConnect will continue to host the metadata for Blackwell
Publishing journals (including the tables of contents and abstracts)
but users wishing to access the full text (in PDF or HTML format)
will be directed to Blackwell Synergy where their access rights will
be validated. Users whose access is not validated by Blackwell
Synergy will be offered the option to buy 'pay per view' access on
IngentaConnect."
Does this mean that I should still be expecting to see those little
orange "S" boxes next to all the content we are entitled to, even
though it isn't hosted on Ingenta? If not, how will our users know
that their access rights will be validated without clicking on ever
single link? Should I be chasing Blackwell / Ingenta to acknowledge the subs?
It's getting confusing for users because I'm trying to push them
towards the Synergy site but the Ingenta site still gives them access
(and people keep pointing this out to me!), in several cases to
issues from before 1997.
Again, apologies if I missed a vital update about this!
