GIS Developer
Description:
The Petroleum Services group at Deloitte are seeking a technically minded
junior GIS developer. The individual will be responsible for supporting
PetroView, the group’s key GIS product as well as the development and
maintenance of associated GIS services and applications. The individual
will be expected to work within a focused team environment, providing
support to colleagues and clients via telephone and on site visits.
The role will be technically challenging providing the individual with an
opportunity to develop a strong career in the delivery of GIS services to
the oil and gas sector. As a junior developer the successful candidate
will be supported and encouraged to develop their technical skills, taking
the opportunity over time to assume further responsibility for the
technical development of the group’s GIS services.
This post is being offered on a permanent basis in our London office.
Responsibilities will include:
• Development of GIS applications focusing heavily on ArcObjects
using Visual Basic;
• Maintenance of the existing applications and GIS code base
(MapBasic, Visual Basic, .NET and C++);
• Regularly supporting colleagues and clients via a helpline service
and when appropriate presenting and contributing at workshop events.
Experience & Technical Skills:
• Minimum one year industry based technical development with ESRI
products, preferably using ArcObjects within ArcGIS;
• Proficiency in the use of MapInfo and ESRI product suites;
• Exposure to the upstream oil industry will be of benefit, however
this is not essential.
Personal Skills:
• Excellent communication skills with both clients and internal
staff;
• Self motivated and flexible approach (team player);
• Good all-round technical programming skills;
• Ability to work on own initiative.
Salary dependent on level of experience.
